Before & After

Since we bought our home in December we have been constantly working on it...or working with contractors who were working on the house. Right now we are working on our closet - we bought a closet organization system that we are installing to have the closet of our dreams (or mine at least...I am not sure Grant dreams about closets)! The next big projects are the guest bathroom and the backyard - which I'll post some exciting news about in a couple of weeks!!

We officially moved into our home on February 28. It felt so good to spend our first night in our home! There was still a lot of work to be done, but we were glad to have most of our stuff moved in thanks to my brothers and my Dad who helped us move out of our third floor condo! Here are some before and after photos of our house.

Here is a photo of the front of our house from the original real estate listing.

Below is the before view from the front door as you enter the house.
Here is the after...we put in new hardwood floors and had all of the walls and ceilings repainted.
Below are a couple of the photos of the original kitchen.
Here is a photo of the kitchen with the new paint, granite countertops and stainless steel appliance. I didn't have a before photo of the dining room, but here is the after. We have since gotten a bigger rectangular table so we can seat more friends and family. =) My mom also gave us a new light fixture that we installed. Here is one of the guest rooms before we painted and added new carpet. Here is the after. This room is now my sample storage room! Here is the before for our guest room. Here is the after. We painted it teal and got new carpet. We now have a queen size bed for all of our guests to sleep on when they come to visit. =)Here is the guest bath before.
Here is the after...we painted it gray and are still working on it. We took out the old mirror and replaced it along with the light fixture. We want to replace all of the tile eventually.
Here is the office entry before. Here is the after. We painted it green and put in new hardwood floors.
Here is the before from the end of the house. You can see the living room, dining room, into the kitchen and the front door.

Here is the after of the living room. I LOVE our new furniture! Here is the before of our bedroom...notice the fabulous paint job and wall mount for a TV.Here is the after. We have since installed a new light fixture as well...bye bye gold ceiling fan! Here are a couple before photos of our bathroom. As a part of our contract the sellers had to replace the shower as it did not pass inspection. In the first photo you can see into our walk-in closet and the lovely painted concrete floors. In the second photo you can see the great handy work of the roofers who installed a roof right over the skylight! It was later repaired. Here is the after of the shower. We are still working on the closet. I never knew just how handy Grant was until we moved into our house. He tiled the laundry room on his own and redid all of the electrical so we could have our laundry machines inside instead of in the garage, where the previous owners had their washer/dryer.
Not only is Grant a great tiler and electrician, he also plumbed our sink! When the granite was installed they left the sink undone. Grant had to plumb the whole thing and install the new disposal and dishwasher. He did an AMAZING job!

Here is the yard before...the sellers actually considered this a "selling point." The deck was all rotted out and there was no grass to be seen. Penelope was less than excited to see her "yard."

After photos of the yard...still in progress
This Saturday we're having our first party at our new house! I'll be sure to post some photos from it!

  2. Wow! What a beautiful home! Congrats! I love the improvements you have made. Jon and I used to do stuff like that all the time before the kiddos came :) I particularly like all the windows and the big trees out front. Nice choices with furniture, colors, and such. Can't wait to see what you have in store for the backyard... I think I have an idea...
