PPP ... Pop!

Here are some shots of my belly through the weeks. I feel like I should have started showing earlier with twins, but perhaps my body was made to carry babies…just not made to naturally conceive them! (Thank you Dr. Winslow and the FIRM for your help with that!)

Pregnancy Detatchment Syndrome?!

So up until week 20 (June 26th) I have come down with a case of Pregnancy Detachment Syndrome. This is a syndrome I created that occurs when one is pregnant…looks in a mirror from the neck up and thinks to herself…I’m having a pretty good day…nice hair…nice make up…I don’t even look 4 months pregnant with twins. Then, she passes a full length mirror and wonders what the heck she has done to her body!

That is me. I know I am pregnant, but I still feel like I don’t really look pregnant. I am too small for a lot of my pregnancy clothes, but too big for my regular clothes. I have no real symptoms of pregnancy…no morning sickness, no real cravings…I still am not sure if I am feeling the babies…

This was further exemplified when we went to register for the babies. The people working at the baby store noted that it didn’t look like I was enjoying the process. Who really enjoys picking out bottles, nipple cream and breast pump accessories?! I told him that the process is not fun and that we were expecting twins and it is all a bit overwhelming. He offered me water…I would have preferred a margarita or 5, but water would have to suffice!

My next post will include some belly shots. At week 20 I started feeling a bit better about looking and being pregnant…and I think I am really feeling them now. That has made this all seem more real. And it’s going to be really real in about 4 months! ;)

The Nursery

We have started clearing out the room that will become our nursery. This room has come a long way. We went through all of the junk that had accumulated in that room…a futon, the Christmas tree, holiday decorations, luggage, bridesmaids dresses…you name it, it was in that room.

Here is the room when we moved in...

It is mostly cleared out now…ready for the baby furniture. We got one of the cribs in, the other is on back order until July. Grant put it together with Reagan and Penelope’s help.

I love it! We got bedding in as well. I am decorating the room in pink and blue.

June 7th

Sorry I've been MIA! I was in Chicago for 9 days and then got caught up in work...spending several nights in Georgia, having a field ride...and now I leave on Monday for another 5 days in Chicago...this time for our National Sales Meeting. Crazy! I'll update a few times...so here it goes!

June 7th was our next ultrasound. I was 17 weeks, 2 days and hoping to find out the genders of our twins. We had set up a tentative gender reveal party on June 8th. I had the bakery lined up and all of our close friends and family on stand by…all hoping the babies cooperated!

I went in early in the morning for my appointment. I made a notecard for the sonogram technician to fill out with Twin A and Twin B along with check boxes for Boy and Girl. I brought that along with a security envelope to the appointment.

When the sonogram technician walked in I asked if she would be able to find out the genders at 17 weeks, 2 days. She said yes…a very confident yes. I gave her the index card and envelope and told her that I didn’t want her to tell me then, but to mark it on the sheet and seal it in the envelope.

She scanned the babies and pointed out their features to me.

She measured their heartbeats…130s-140s. Then she told me to look away as she went in search of their genders. She found one quickly. I was convinced that was a boy. Then it took her some time to find her the other gender. So I was thinking it was a boy and a girl…and hoping for that outcome as well.

I left the appointment with the sealed envelope containing the information I so desperately wanted to know. This was a test of patience. I worked, went to several offices…all with that sealed envelope in my passenger seat. On my way home from work I stopped at the bakery and gave the sealed envelope to them. The girl at the counter told me she was a twin. She had a twin brother. Could it be a sign that we were having boy/girl twins!? We’d have to wait until Friday night.

On Friday, I worked. Then I picked up the cakes, searched them for any pink or blue crumbs…didn’t find any. We got ready for our friends and family to come and at 6:30 they started to arrive. We waited until everyone arrived and then cut the cakes.

It was a boy and a girl! First we cut into the pink cake…then the blue. It was just what I had hoped for. We are truly blessed! Now the pressure is on to have a healthy pregnancy for our son and our daughter. I also want to confirm the genders at our next appointment on July 9th. Then, I’ll feel even better!

Since June 8th I’ve been a shopping machine as Grant calls me. Watch out Carter’s, Babies R’ Us, Buy Buy Baby and any online retailer I find…I am armed with a Visa and ready to shop! ;)
