How do you know you've picked a good vet?

When we got Penelope it was hard to find the right vet. I asked everyone I knew who they went to and what they thought. One of my friends at the gym insisted that his vet was the best and that he had spent a lot of time researching to find the best doctor in town. Knowing how much his dog meant to him, I thought I'd save myself the hours of researching and go to his same vet, Coastal Vet.

We took Penelope in for her first appointment. They were really nice. The facility was clean and the doctor was knowledgeable. Everyone LOVED Penelope. We've been back for several visits. Penelope has now gotten all of her shots and won't go back until we get her spayed in a month or so.

Each time we go to the vet it's interesting to see the other dogs in the waiting room. Penelope loves to go up to each one and meet them - even the really big dogs. On our second visit Penelope was taken by a very cute Corgi. She started playing with him as I met his owner. We talked about our dogs and as we were leaving she told me something. Her Corgi - Chase - Penelope's new best friend - had in fact just won best in show for Corgis at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show!?! Penelope has famous friends and I knew that I had found the best vet in town.

Penelope knows her stuff

Grant has been working hard to teach Penelope some commands. I am amazed at how quickly Penelope catches on when Grant is teaching her. He uses little pieces of treats and repeats the same words and motions over and over again until Penelope starts doing the tricks on command.

Watch the videos below to see Penelope in action!

Happy Easter!!

Happy Easter everyone! We're leaving in a few minutes to have Easter dinner with my family. We're driving over to my Aunt's in our NEW CAR!!Yesterday was the official launch date of the new BMW 1 Series. Grant and I were the first people in Jacksonville to drive away in a brand new BMW 128i Convertible. We LOVE it! ...and so does Penelope!
These are photos our salesman took just before we drove it off the lot. We'll post some better photos later tonight or tomorrow. Luckily we've had great weather today and yesterday. We've been driving the car all around town!

Penelope takes a bath

Sometimes Penelope gets a little stinky. While she is a dog, we prefer that she not smell like one. We try to bathe Penelope once a week. We usually try to get her as dirty as possible before bath time. Here is what we did last week.

A Day at the Beach with Penelope
Penelope loves the beach. I think she loves the open space at low tide and meeting all of the new people and dogs she passes.

Family photo!

After we took Penelope to the beach it was time for a bath. Whenever we give Penelope a bath she tries to drink her bath water when we first put her in the tub. Then she realizes that she is not sitting in a large water bowl, rather it's bath time! She is now big enough to jump out of the tub...so once she realizes that she's getting a bath she tries to jump out. Luckily we are still much bigger than her and can easily stop her attempts to flee.

All dry except for her feet!

All wet and very cute!

Today is a big day for Becky & Grant. We will post what we're doing later tonight or tomorrow. Get excited! =)

What does Penelope do while we are at work?

Many people may wonder what Penelope does all day while we are at work.

In a typical day we get up at 6:30am. I go to the gym while Grant takes Penelope out, feeds her breakfast and gets ready for work. After I get home, shower and get ready for work, I take Penelope out again around 8:15am. Then, Penelope is on her own until 12:15, when I come home for lunch.

Here is what Penelope is up to in the mornings.First, she makes our bed.

Then, she tries to remember what channel is Animal Planet.

Instead, she found TLC. Another great episode of "Little People, Big World."

I return to work after about an hour and Penelope is then left to rule the roost until Grant gets home around 4:30pm. Here is what she does during the afternoons.

She plays with her toys under the couch.

Then, she texts her friends to see what they're up to.

Penelope is definitely a busy puppy!

It has arrived!

Grant and I had a low day last December. While at my friend's rehearsal dinner I dropped one of our prized possessions -- our digital camera. It feel right on the lens. When I tried to turn the camera on all I got was a lens error. It was a low moment.

Since December 7 we have been looking for a new camera. As many of you know I am a very particular consumer. I wanted to get a camera that was perfect. One of my main issues with digital cameras is the amount of time it takes to take a photo. I loved our old camera because it took photos so quickly. I was on a mission.

I read reviews on every website I could find. I tried out cameras at different stores. I finally found the camera - a Canon 870.
Now that we have a fabulous new camera I will be posting much more frequently, documenting all of the big moments in Penelope's life. She is now just over 3 months old. We love her so much!

I have one story in particular that I will post later this week. Penelope met Doggie Royalty a couple of weeks ago. Get excited!

Becky :)
