Awards Gala and Evening in Monte Carlo

Grant and I both got ready for the Awards Gala. The dress was formal. I had brought a long dress and Grant his suit. He always looks so nice dressed up. Getting dressed for this event made me think that we should plan more formal activities and get dressed up more often. A friend asked if Grant wore suits to work because he thought his suit was very nice and fit him so well! I guess I am not the only one who thinks my husband cleans up well!
Me and Grant all dressed up!

We went to the theater on the boat. I made sure to get there early so we could get good seats for the special guest! We were greeted by the boat staff and trays of drinks from champagne to wine to mixed drinks to my selection, water. They had dancers, cirque du soleil-style, open up the evening. Then we watched a short video. Then, our COO addressed the group of award winners and guests. Each award winner was announced individually and was asked to come on stage to accept a PCE pin and shake the hands of the corporate hosts and our COO. Following the presentation of awards our COO said that there was one more award winner on the boat. He mentioned the name of his album, the number of grammy awards he had won…and then the curtain opened up.

It was Pat Monahan from the band Train!!!

He sang for about 90 minutes-2 hours. It was our own private concert. There were only a couple hundred of us on the boat. It was amazing. Every time I hear a Train song on the radio I am taken back to that night.

 Dessert at dinner...mmm!
The rolled out the red carpet for us

After the performance we ate dinner and headed to Monte Carlo. Grant and I had gone to Monte Carlo in September. We rented a car, drove along the Grand Cornish (a road similar to Route 1 that runs along the Mediterranean). There was no way we were going to stay into the evening and drive that road at night! So we had never seen Monte Carlo at night.

  2. Ooh la la. Monte Carlo looks fancy schmancy, like in the movies. Love it! Your company really goes all out- private concerts, etc. I can see why you were so motivated to win this award :)
