We flew from London to Amsterdam...next time I'd definitely take the train. European airports are totally crazy and disorganized. But we made it.
Amsterdam had similar weather to what we had experienced in London...cool, rainy at times, sunny at times. It was absolutely gorgeous!!! I loved all of the canals, the bikes, the architecture. We had some great local food. There was even a fair going on in the center of town. We got some brats and fries there. Amsterdam is heavily influenced by Germany as far as food goes. It was all very tasty!
Along with the food we had to check out the Anne Frank house, the IAMSTERDAM sign, the Van Gogh Museum and the red light district. The Anne Frank house was moving. We were able to walk through where they lived and see videos from those who knew Anne from her father to her friends. I could just imagine how hard it must have been to live cooped up in that small space for as long as they made it for...then just to go to a concentration camp and watch members of your family die one by one. So devastating.
The line at the Van Gogh Museum was crazy long...we'll put that on our list for our next trip to Amsterdam...which I am sure we'll make...we LOVED it!
The Red Light District was interesting...all I can say is Grant is never going to Amsterdam on a guys only weekend! ;)
Here are a few photos from our two nights in Amsterdam.

Looks like so much fun! You're reminding me of all the traveling we did before kids and hope to do again some day!
ReplyDeleteSo nice. I love the architecture over there. We haven't been to Amsterdam but with good food, it might have to be added on to our list.
ReplyDelete(P.S. You look SO happy!)
